Vampy Varnish Thursday Poll

How’s everyone doing this week so far? I am really wishing it was already Friday, but I guess I’ll just have to suffer through one more day.  Today I’m gonna switch it up a tad. Here is a list of some of my current favorite things, beauty and non-beauty related. Enjoy!

  1. Urban Decay Ransom eyeliner – Just got this on Saturday and I LOVE IT!
  2. The Killers song Human – Ok this is one of those songs I hated when it first came out. Then I kinda started singing along because the lyrics are so silly and non-sensical. Now of course I am always singing it and inserting my own lyrics like “Are we canine, or are we feline?”. I mean really, you could just about put anything you wanted in there!
  3. The book Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult – I have read most of her novels and this is just another great read I don’t want to put down.
  4. No More War by Rescue Beauty Lounge – I have re-fallen in love with this polish simply because I wore it the other day for only the second time and had forgotten how fabulous and weird it is
  5. These cupcakes - They could NOT be cuter if they tried, I want them!
  6. This bag from Coach  – the color kills me (hubbie are you reading this? LOL!)
  7. I haven’t received them yet, but I know I am going to love the new butter LONDON colors for Spring 2009
  8. This website, which is a dictionary of British slang. It’s SO fun to read through, I have a blast looking at it.

What are some of your favorite things right now?

Oh and I have some great swatches coming up, hopefully soon (though it’s raining here ALL weekend supposedly). They include Barielle’s new Spring 2009 collection, Dazzle Dry nail polish and possibly some other goodies, depending on when I receive them. Stay tuned!

China Glaze Summer Days, Summer 2009

Even though it’s still winter for about 7 more weeks and then we have 3 months of spring to get through, I cannot resist showing you China Glaze’s Summer 2009 collection called Summer Days. It makes me JONES for the balmy hot days of summer. I want to BBQ and eat out side and drink cool lemonade in my backyard while my cats run around after birds….Ahhhhh summer. This collection is really great and features China Glaze’s “famous” jelly-like glass flecked effect, which is so unique and fabulous. As usual the polish was great and I had no application issues of any kind. Pics taken in sun & shade with no top coat.

Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2009

No Vampy Varnish Tuesday Poll today folks, I have something MUCH more fun! I am super excited about this Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Limited Edition Spring 2009 collection because I happen to love ALL the colors, which never happens. Now I know that for a lot of you these are going to be really hard to find in your local drugstores. I too have lots of issues with these Tracy Reese colors. If you can’t find them after searching in a couple stores (wait until end of Feb/March as I believe this collection comes out then) I say write into the company and let them know your thoughts and frustrations. If enough of us write in, maybe they will finally listen!

Here is the company info:
Coty US LLC
410 American Road
Morris Plains, NJ 07950
Attn: Consumer Affairs
1-800-953-5080
Website

I am showing all these colors both in the sun and in the shade to try out something different. I apologize in advance for the reflections in the shade pics, it couldn’t really be helped, but it does give you a different view of the color.

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Polish

I have NO idea what collection these are from or anything! One thing that drives me mad about Sally Hansen is their website is hopelessly out of date, it doesn’t include the latest new or upcoming lines and they are totally sporadic about which lines and color collections come out in which stores, etc. I have an incredibly hard time finding any of the new Tracy Reese collections and have had to resort to getting them on eBay in the past. Get it together people, you would think that a HUGE company like that would be more accessible. Ok I am done with that rant! These were found at my local Rite Aid. I believe there was 1 or 2 more in the collection but I passed on them. Pics taken in sun with no top coat.

Black Diamond
Isn’t this fabulous? I love a black and a black with tons and tons of very fine silver/green & pink shimmer in it is even better! While this may be really close to a lot of other shimmery blacks, it is slightly different to the discerning eye. However, if you just want 1 or 2 shimmery blacks and you already have them, you might not have the need to pick this up as I did. The formula was really nice and smooth and I used three coats. Here are some other shimmery blacks for comparison (and sorry in advance for the horrible pics in these links, they were with my old camera):

Orly Goth – Has much larger and different sized silver (only) particles and a blacker base
Sally Hansen Salon Raven’s Wing – Blacker base and has a lot more silver packed in it
Misa Dying Love – Much more subdued shimmer, not very “glittery”
Misa Wishing On A Star – Has tons of light blue-ish silver glitter particles
Dior Black Sequins – Much more expensive (and LE) and the shimmer is not as tightly packed in
Borghese Notte Black – Much more tame shimmer, not as noticeable when indoors
Zoya Raven – Very subdued shimmer, not as noticeable
ManGlaze The Death Tar – Totally matte with no top coat, when used with a top coat a rainbow of shimmer colors come out
OPI Baby It’s “Coal” Outside – This is the closest dupe I could find, very, very similar
