Vampy Varnish Tuesday Poll

2009 is almost here, which I cannot
believe! It seems as though 2008 just started. Actually it seems like
2000 just started, time flies…What are your plans?

  • Do
you have plans for New Years Eve and if so, what? My plans are pretty
much the same every year. I go get some really yummy food at A.G.
Ferrari’s and some champagne and my hubbie and I watch either VH1′s
hilarious countdown shows or something similar (Smoking Gun on Tru TV
    now has some funny ones)
  • What
was the best New Years you ever had? Sadly I don’t think I have ever
really had a totally fabulous New Years. One I remember in particular
though was back when I was maybe 17 or 18 I went to a party at some
nice hotel in SF with a bunch of people and the guys from Metallica
were there and some other band people also (I hung out with a lot of
people from Bay Area rock bands so it wasn’t that unusual but was fun!
I have a horrific picture of me with some GIANT hairsprayed bangs
    sitting next to Kirk Hammett.)
  • What
was the worst? My hubbie and I went to Reno about 6 or 7 years ago for
the New Years weekend and it was insanely crowded. We went out on the
street maybe 30 minutes before midnight and there were SO MANY people
out there it was just completely nuts, so we said screw it and went
back inside to get away from everyone. I loathe big crowds like that
and I felt trapped being around all those people
  • What polish are you planning on wearing that night? I might not even have any on (oh horrors!) since I’m not going anywhere
  • What’s your favorite cocktail for New Years? Veuve Clique Yellow Label champagne
  • What
do you do on New Years Day? Sleep in and I watch the Twilight Zone
marathon on Sci/Fi channel. Anyone getting the sense that I love TV
yet? wink Vampy Varnish Tuesday Poll
  • What
are your goals for 2009? I MUST get back to the gym, I slacked off way
too much in ’08 and it shows. Also I must stop eating all the damn
white carbs, which I love so dearly. I also would like to take a
photography class or two and possibly a writing class to get my juices
flowing. How sad it is that I have an English degree in creative
writing, yet I need to take a class! I guess when you don’t really
write for 10 years, you need some help gettin’ back in the saddle!

Chanel Moscow Swatches

Good afternoon all! It’s been awhile since I posted, partially because there has been no sun but also because I was enjoying my X-mas break (which I am still on for another full week!). Today I’m bringing you two of the Chanel Moscow colors that I liked best. The consistency was a tad thick on these, which is ok because I only needed two coats. Pics taken in sun (with my new Canon SD990 IS camera!) with no top coat.

Chanel Or De Russie Chanel Moscow Swatches
Or De Russie
As you may already know, I LOVE ME anything olive green or tinged with olive green! Even though this color is almost an exact dupe to China Glaze Wagon Trail (which is one of my top 3 favorite colors ever), I had to drop the $30.00 on it anyway. There are just too few olive green polishes in the world, so I feel inclined to buy them all. When I first saw pics of this one from Chanel’s site, I thought it was more gold so I was going to skip it. But then I saw real swatches and knew it had to be mine. What can I say, it’s an olive green/gold with massive fine gold shimmer. This is two coats.

Vampy Varnish Tuesday Poll

Only two more days until Christmas, who’s excited? Here’s a Christmas poll, just copy the list from below and paste it into the comments with your answers. I might not get a chance to chat with you until after the holiday, so please have a fabulous and safe Christmas and have fun!

  • What are your plans for Christmas Day? I am having my family over at my house for breakfast and the opening of presents. Then we break for a bit in the afternoon and get back together in late afternoon for yummy appetizers and dinner!
  • What are you REALLY hoping you get from Santa? A Canon or Nikon camera
  • What’s the best gift you got someone else? I can’t say as The Hubbie might read this!
  • What are you planning on getting for YOU the day after? Hmm I already bought myself a really nice Soia & Kyo coat on sale from Nordie’s so I might have to pass on the sales this year. However if I get a MAC or Sephora gift card it will be burning a hole in my wallet until I use it, so it might be spent immediately!
  • What polish color do you plan on wearing? China Glaze Emerald Sparkle
  • Are you baking/cooking anything delicious? I am baking sugar cookies and Mexican Tea Cakes (aka Mexican Wedding Cakes) and also making my famous artichoke/garlic hot dip YUM!
  • What’s your favorite thing to eat? I am a huge fan of appetizers (I could just eat them and not dinner) so I have to say all the pre-dinner food is my fav and then desserts. I am partial to my afore-mentioned dip as well as my italian sausage stuffed mushroms.
  • What do you normally do the day after, when all the excitement has died down? Sleep in and play with new toys!

butter London Holiday 2008

Happy Friday! The nice folks over at butter London sent me their Holiday 2008 sets to try out. I really like their polish. I know a lot of you feel it’s too expensive and you don’t know a lot about them, but I really believe in them and their collection. I absolutely LOVE the witty names of the colors and they definitely have some colors you will not see anywhere else. My only complaint, which I have mentioned before, is that the bottle shape is very hard to work with. For me it’s hard to get a really good grasp on the brush with that rectangle shape and then the top doesn’t want to go back on the bottle smoothly either, which creates a bit of a mess. It’s nice aesthetically, but not practical…Anyway I am only showing three of the four colors they sent because I already have and swatched one of them (Chancer). Pics taken in sun (when it came out for 10 seconds today) and with no top coat.

Now don’t think of me the wrong way, I am not a Star Wars geek, but to me this color screams C3PO! I love it! It’s a really glittery awesome gold with a foil like finish. Normally I am not a *gold* person, but this is extremely flattering on fair skin (it almost has green undertones) and I will definitely be wearing it. You could do two coats, but I did three just for fun.
